The bar chart illustrates the number of people moving from Britain to specific countries from 2004 to 2007.
Overall, most figures trended downward throughout the period, except for Australia, which increased slightly. While Australia received the largest volume of people, New Zealand and the USA, on the other hand, shared the lowest figures.
Initially, there was a fluctuation in the number of British migrating to Australia, starting from more than 40 thousand in 2004, peaking at about 52 thousand in 2006, and finishing at under 45 thousand in 2007. Similarly, the figure for France witnessed an increase of nearly 10 thousand in 2005 after standing at about 23 thousand in 2004. It then dropped gradually to approximately 18 thousand at the end of the period. In terms of the USA, it fluctuated from nearly 25 thousand in 2004 to 20 thousand in 2007.
Conversely, the volume of British emigrants to Spain and to New Zealand dropped slightly over the period. The former stayed mostly the same in the first two years, reaching about 35 thousand individuals. Two years later, it declined to about 34 thousand and approximately 28 thousand, respectively. The latter just decreased by about 0.5 thousand each year, from nearly 25 thousand in 2004 to just above 20 thousand in 2007.
