Overall, Australia was the most preferred by British people, whereas the remaining destinations showed downward trends and minor fluctuations, except for France, which displayed the most noticeable change.
There were approximately 40 thousand people who emigrated to Australia, reaching a peak in 2006 of over 50 thousand people. In terms of Spain, the number of people who moved to Spain remained unchanged at nearly 35 thousand, before dropping by around 5 thousand people in 2007. In France, the highest figure was in 2005, which was nearly 30 thousand people.
Between 2004 and 2007, New Zealand’s figures decreased slightly from nearly 25 thousand to over 20 thousand. For USA, its figure presented a small downward trend, starting with nearly 25 thousand people in 2004 and subsequently decreasing to 20 thousand by the end of the peroid.
