Most sports decreased in popularity before rising again like golf, rugby, and snooker. in 1995 these three sports were at their highest, with the exception of rugby, falling in 2000, and rising again in 2005. Swimming wasn’t as popular at the beginning of the period, but it exponentially grew, peaking in 2000.
Tennis was the third most popular sport in 1995, but it greatly declined in the following years. Football was the only sport to steadily grow each year, making it the most popular sport in the UK. Football had more than double the fan base of golf in every single year, showing its dominance as the most popular sport in the UK.
