The two pie charts illustrate the proportions of American students at a university located in the United States that speak languages other than English in 2005 and 2015.
The most significant difference that can be observed between the two years is for students who are able to speak only Spanish as well as no additional language. In 2005, 45% of students spoke no additional language other than English. 10 years later, it decreased by 15%, resulting in 30%. Furthermore, the 18% of students who previously spoke Spanish has increased to 29% over the decade. Based on this data, we can assume that more students speak Spanish as time passes by.
The proportions of students who spoke other languages do not show a large difference between the two years. Students who speak French have increased by only 2%, followed by an increase in another language by 4%. On the other hand, students who speak two additional languages have decreased by 2%. Moreover, students who are able to speak German stay the same.
