The pie charts illustrate the average proportions of nutrients in meals, all of which, when consumed in excessive amounts, can be harmful to health.
Overall, in the first two charts it can be seen that dinner contains the highest proportions of both sodium and saturated fat. Meanwhile, the third chart presents a completely different picture, as added sugar is consumed mostly in snacks.
If we compare the first two charts, sodium and saturated fat dominate in dinner, accounting for 44% and 34%, respectively. In second place is lunch, with relatively similar proportions of these nutrients. Compared with sodium, breakfast and snacks contain higher levels of saturated fat, at 18% and 22%, while their sodium content is lower, at 13% each.
The chart showing added sugar displays a contrasting distribution, with snacks accounting for 40% of the total. Compared with the other two charts, dinner contains a smaller proportion of added sugar, at 20%, while breakfast and lunch have relatively similar figures.
