The pie charts illustrate the average percentage of Sodium, saturated fats, and added sugars, which are a few nutrients in four meal types, namely Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks, that could cause health issues if taken too much. The data are taken from the USA.
When considering Sodium, the highest percentage is consumed in dinner (43%), while this amount could be found in breakfast and snacks with similar percentages (14%). Whereas Lunch has the second highest proportion of Sodium (29%). Additionally, more than a third of Saturated fat is included in dinner (37%) while breakfast holds the least amount. Lunch and Snacks carry 26% and 21% of this nutrient respectively. Furthermore, Snacks encompass the highest amount of added sugar which is 42%. Compared to Sodium and Saturated fat, dinner contains lower amounts of added sugar, while lunch contains almost a fifth, and 16% is allocated to breakfast.
All in all, all the types of meals consumed in the USA contain at least 14% of nutrients that can be unhealthy if taken too much.
