Overall, the number of Japanese tourists who travel show an almost steady incline in the decade observed. Th Australian share of the Japanese tourist market increased dramatically till the late 80’s, suffered a sudden dip, but recovered successfully by the mid 90’s.
Observing the chart, in 1985, only above 40 million Japanese travelled internationally. This figure increased steadily with slight fluctuations in 1991(approx. 11M). A slow incline from just above 10M to 12 was seen between 1990-93. Thereafter, however, a constant rise followed which resulted in just above 14M in 1995.
The line graph started from the x-axis, indicating a void of Japanese tourists in Australia. What followed was a steep incline till 1988, reaching just below 5%. Although Australia saw a slight plunge in 1989, the graph showed a boost in percentages, reaching just above 6% in 1993. At the end of the period, it indicates a slight fluctuation to exactly 6%.
