Overall, it is seen that in both areas the traffic was the largest source of noise pollution ,and city habitants were more affected , compared to rural citizens.Moreover, the number of train and aircraft noise effects were lower,while industry was the lowest.
The most significant noise source was traffic affecting during the day in the city were 64 millions, while in rural area it was 30 millions lower. At night, the numbers decreased slightly, yet, in the rural area it was 24 million,in the city it doubled to 48.However, the difference between rural and urban census data was smaller in terms of train noise pollution.Specifically, 10 and 8 million people living in cities were reportedly disturbed by noise from trains in the daytime and at night respectively, and this was the case for 8 and 6 million rural inhabitants.
On the other hand, aircraft and industry, noise from flights was a problem for 4 million individuals in cities and 2 million in the countryside during the day. These numbers fell significantly at night, both to 1 million.Moreover, industrial noise impacted more than 1 million city dwellers, while not affecting anyone in rural zone.
