Overall, the number of people using public transportation maintained stably in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, while the quivalent number for people in Sydney and Brisbane exhibited significant growth. In addition, the percentage of people using private cars demonstrated stable increase in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, however, the percentages in Sydney and Melbourne exhibited fluctuations.
To be specific, the percentage of people using public transportation commenced at 15% in Brisbane, after four years of growth, it soared to 25% in 2006 and culminated at almost 30% at the end of the period. Moreover, the equivalent figure for Sydney fluctuated from 20% in 2000 and finally ascended to approximately 25% in 2010. The percentage of people using public transportation in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide maintained at 18%, 10% and 5% respectively.
Looking at the second chart, the percentage of people using private cars in Adelaide and Brisbane demonstrated steadily increase, culminating at 90% and 50% respectively. Meanwhile, the percentages in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne experienced notable fluctuations, reaching 60%, 30% and 20% in 2010.
