Overall, the proportion of urban areas people who use public transport experienced slight fluctuations over the given period except Brisbane city. Therefore, consumption for private cars increased a little over the second half of the decade.
To begin with, only Brisbane city residents’ share for public transportation increased notably, starting at 15% in 2000 then reaching the highest point at over 25%. Sydney city people’s percentage oscillated before 2007 by stabling at 20% , and then they had an upward trend in 2009 by pointing at 25% in 2010. Additionally, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide cities stabilized at 17%, 10%, 5% respectively.
Initially, Sydney reached the peak point in 2006 at 40% but placed as the lowest private transport usage urban area. Conversely, Merbourne’s line declined from 30% to 20% by placing 5th place among major cities. By contrast, Perth’s proportion increased in 2004 and stood at 60% until the end of the decade. Ultimately, Brisbane had a stable fluctuation, while Adelaide had notable instability.
