According to the data, most of the pupils were interested in Mandarin in both Sydney and Melbourne at 40% and 45% respectively. Additionally, the Japanese
language was the second highest language by 25% in Melbourne and 30% in Sydney.
Looking at Italian, Indonesian, and others. Italian and Indonesian languages in Melbourne were more popular than Sydney. The percentage of Italian and Indonesians in Melbourne were 15% and 10% respectively whereas, the average number of high school students who studied Italian and Indonesian in Sydney were only 5% in both languages. Moreover, in others languages in Melbourne were enrolled at 10% and Sydney were 15% among Australian students.
