The given charts illustrate the proportion of pupils joining different courses at an adult education centre in 1985 and now. Overall, it is noticeable that there has been the changes in the percentage of students who participated in Art, Cookery and Modern languages courses. Another striking feature is the appearance of IT course which insteads cookery and music appreciation.
In the past, there was the highest percentage of people taking modern languages course, accounted for 24%. It was slightly followed by Fitness and dance which comprised 22%. Additionally, Art, Local history and Cookery course just made up 17%, 15% and 14%, respectively. Lastly, the figure for Music appreciation course consisted of the lowest part, at only 8%.
At the present, the most noteworthy trend is the replacing of IT course to music appreciation and local history. It has surpassed modern languages and become the top of the categories, accounting for 27%. By contrast, the figure for modern languages has flopped to only 17%. Moreover, the rate of students taking art course has decreased by 2% while that of cookery increased by 5%. Finally, the figure for fitness and dance has remained unchanged until now.
