The given diagrams compare the courses chosen by pupils at an adult education center in terms of their popularity in 1985 and this year.
Overall, it is clear that modern languages made up the largest proportion in the first examined year; however, it was soon overtaken by IT.
In detail, the percentage of students engaging in modern languages stood at 24%, the highest figure that year, before declining notably to 17% this year. Similarly, art also witnessed a minor decrease of 2% over the surveyed period. During the examined period, while the figure for dance and fitness remained unchanged at just over a fifth, the percentage of students enrolling in cookery courses rose significantly to nearly a fifth in this year.
There was no information available for IT in 1985; however, its figure then rose heavily to over a quarter, making it the most popular choice among the surveyed courses this year. An opposite trend can be seen in the figures for music appreciation and local history courses, at under 20% in the first year, but then later no data were available for these two fields of study this year.
