Overall, Salvador experienced a higher volume of rain than Brasilia in almost every month. Notably, while Salvador recorded relatively high and stable levels of rainfall through the year, Brasilia only had rainfall at a high level at the beginning and the end of the year.
Looking first at Brasilia, which generally had lower figures throughout the year. January in Brasilia recorded the highest rainfall level, at 200 mm, before declining gradually over the following months, reaching its lowest point of around 20 mm in July. However, from August onwards, the volume of rain in this city increased steadily from nearly 50 mm in August to a peak again at 200 mm in December.
Turning to Salvador, this city had a higher rainfall level in almost every month. Salvador’s rainfall level was the lowest in January, reaching 150 mm, then climbing gradually to reach a peak of 300 mm in April. From May onwards, the level of rainfall in Salvador recorded a steady decline. It fell slightly to 280 mm in May and 260 mm in June, before dropping significantly to 200 mm in July, which was ten times higher than that of Brasilia at the same time. In the remaining five months, Salvador’s rainfall level fluctuated in the range from 160 mm to 180 mm, ending the year at 180 mm in December.
