The given charts illustrate the percentage of Australian school graduates who were unemployed, employed and pursuing further education in 1980,1990, and 2000.
Overall, the proportion of students who were unemployed and further education witnessed a downward trend, while it was the reverse for employed ones. It was noticeable that students who were unemployed made up the lowest point during the period.
Looking first at unemployed and further education figures, there were a large number of students who decided to continue further education. In 1980, the highest percentage was further education which stood at 50%, however it dropped to 37% at the end of the period. Similarly, figures for those who were Unemployed were the smallest, at only 10% in 1980, 12% in 1990, and finally declining back down to 8% in 2000.
Moving to the percentage of Employed, the percentage of students who received a job after graduation from Secondary School, from 40% in 1980 to 55% in 2000, which was the largest figure among all examined categories.
