The provided diagram depicts a territory around the Blackstone river prior to and following a flood. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that many things were washed away by the floodwaters.
Initially, there was a big bend in the river called an Oxbow. A subsequent overwhelming flow of it has changed the land and the river with the straight stream. The Blackstone sharp turn has been transformed to an Oxbow lake.
In general, a housing area was on both riverbanks and next to it where a nearby bridge crossed the river. In addition, trees grew on each side of the Blackstone. During the natural process, the residential area has diminished. Now, the houses only are situated next to the river on the right side while on each cost buildings have been removed. Furthermore, some trees and the bridge have been taken down.
The once peaceful landscape has suffered from the flood, indicating a shift in urban development and natural progression.
