Both of the maps illustrate the transformation of a coastal town which is also known as Pentland almost over than five decades between 1950 and 2007.
Overall, the most important dramatic changes in town are the disappearance of grassland and the industrial area underwent significant transformation. Correspondingly, the green area on the right side of the road made way for residential and commercial facilities.
In 1950, the grassland occupied both sides of the road. In contrast, in 2007, these green spaces were replaced by various buildings. Whilst, on the eastern side showed the row of stores and two rows of houses, on the western side, a cinema and a row of shops was constructed. Likewise, the industrial zone in the north-west was converted into a park and a swimming pool by 2007.
Meantime, the original car park which was situated in the northeast side was removed and was completely redeveloped adjacent to the new swimming pool as well as upgraded into a multi-storey parking space. The main road was extended providing access to a yacht marina which was newly constructed next to the sea and alongside this marina, apartment complex was built.
