The maps desmonstrate the construction of several buildings on a coastal area called Portland between 1950 and 2007.
Overall, the dominant grassland on the south had been remove to accomodate the erection of buildings while a yacht marina had been built in the north. It is also noticeable that many changes can be witnessed in the road system, which had expanded to connect structures.
Many redevelopments can be seen in the south of Portland. The dominant grassland on both sides of the road had been removed to accomodate new buildings. On the east side of the road, two rows of houses had been erected along with a row of shops. A similar trend can also be seen on the west; however, a cinema was built in the opposition of housing units. Additionally, the road had expanded to connect the aforementioned constructions
Regarding the changes that took place in the north, it was clear that two smaller paths, each on both sides of the central road had been removed. At the central north, a yacht marina had been built along with the former sea while a semicircular road had been constructed to surrond this area. Many apartment units along with the newly made road had been made on the northeastern area, meanwhile the previous industrial area on the west had been replaced to adapt a multi-storey car park. It is also interesting that a swimming pool, park and multiple shops had been erected, which all had connected paths to others.
