The two maps illustrate the changes which occurred in a coastal town, Portland between 1950 and 2007 . Looking at the overall perspective, it can be clearly seen that there are many changes in the coastal town called Portland. Generally speaking, many new developments such as a swimming pool, shops, and apartments etc. have been added. It is clear that only two things remain the same, which are the main road and the sea at the top . Moreover, a lot of new amenities have been constructed in this town .
The grassland located in the south was replaced by a cinema, and shops on the left of the houses can be seen on the right . The industrial field on the northeast side became a huge multi-storey car park. Moreover, a swimming pool is situated on the north side near a park . The sea range in the middle was transformed and developed into a marina . On the northwest side, grassland was cut down and new houses were built there .

Overall, it can be seen that there have been many new changes in Portland over 50 years . In 1950, Portland lacked amenities, but in 2007, there were many new changes and opportunities for citizens.
