In the initial steps, used cans are collected from various sources in preparation for the recycling procedure. Once cans are gathered, they are then transported to a processing facility where they undergo the process of cleaning, sorting, shredding and compressing into smaller pieces. The following step is to let the processed cans heat with extremely high temperatures and then melt to form aluminum liquid.
After being heated, the liquid is solidified and flattened to transform to rolls, which are from 2.5mm to 6mm thick. The final step involves converting rolls to new aluminum cans, which are eventually distributed back for reuse. It is noteworthy that recycled cans account for 74% of the total amount of aluminum cans in the UK.
