The map below illustrates the changes in Lakeside from 2000 to 2009. Overall, there have been many changes, including the addition of shopping and industrial facilities and a decrease in residential sites.
The map indicates that a long river ran from the southwest corner to the lake, which was at the northeast corner of the entire diagram. On the south side of the river, a small residential area located at the southeast corner was demolished to make room for an industrial complex, which was expanded to the riverside. In the location where there was a lake in 2000, a smaller pond in 2009.
On the other side of the river, far from the north side, what once was a warehouse is now a car park. Below this, an old town was changed to offices and a university. At the southwest side of the old town, an arts center was upgraded to a multi-screen cinema. Another striking change is that a shopping centre was constructed to replace a large residential area that was to the south of this site. Although the school was still located at the center of the map, the former increased nearly to twice its original size. Further northwest, the residential site remained intact.
