The diagrams illustrated the transformation from a small fishing village into a large European tourist resort. Overall, there are several major changes that mainly involve the construction of hotels and road infrastructure.
In 1974, on the west side there was a large woodland and a village. Next to the woodland, there were plenty of olives trees. Moreover, in the south there was a sea that had a harbour and boats on the coastline, and also near that location there was a fishing village where the fishermen lived. In the mountain, the villagers raised sheep and goats.
Therefore, in 2004 the population rose up from 12,000 to 80,000 with 50,000 tourist beds. The village on the northwest remained the same, while other than that, there were a lot of changes. The resort replaced the woodland with a golf course and added tourist shops in the village. There was also a road that connected the village to the beach, which had hotels, homes of locals, and the original village by the side. Moreover, the olives also expanded by adding more variety, such as fruits and also vegetables for the hotels.
In conclusion, the development from 1974 to 2004 had made the area larger, including many new buildings such as hotels, a golf course, tourist shops, and many more.
