The maps illustrate the transformation of a small fishing village in 1974 into a large European tourist resort in 2004. Overall, it is evident that the fishing village has gone through significant changes in this period. The most noticeable changes are the increase in population, the conversion of the woodland area, more buildings, especially near the beach, and the construction of new roads.
In 1974 it can be seen from the map that there are only small noticeable areas. Small village areas can be noticed in three locations. The woodland and olive farm can be seen around the western area. In addition, there seems to be a pasture for sheep and goats in the north-east area near one of the village areas.
From the 2004 map, it can be understood that the population grew almost 7 times in this 3 decades period. What was once a woodland and olive farm in the west area, has been developed into a golf course. It can also be seen that more buildings were constructed, consist mostly of dwellings, but there were also hotels and shops. New roads were also built, where the more distinct ones were 2 main roads connecting the beach area with the northwest area and with the northeast area.
