The maps illustrate the changes that took place in the park of District over a period of 10 years (2004-2014). Overall, the park witnessed a dramatic transformation during this period, becoming more accessible and entertaining with the construction of new facilities, while some key features remained relatively stable.
In 2004, District park was a simpler place, with key features including a tennis court in the north and a children’s play area to the north-east. The park also had a football ground in the park center. In the west, there was a car park. In addition, there was a pond in the southern part of the park. A green area could be found in the south-east.
By 2014, District park had seen extensive. A noticeable change is that, the park had been surrounded by the cycling path. The green area had been relocated in order to construction of a new cafe and toilets. A new boating area was constructed of the expense of the removal of the pond. Additionally, a new picnic area built in the south-west. Although the children’s play had been remained unchanged in the field, a new children soft play area had been added closer to it. The last development, the car park had been extended. Despite these changes, certain key features had been reamined unchanged, the football ground still stands in the field, while the tennis court located in the north had remained intact.
