The first graph illustrates the annual number of train passengers in Sydney, Australia, from 1995 to 2004, while the second graph shows the target for punctual train services compared with the percentage of trains that actually ran on time during the same period.
Overall, the number of train passengers generally increased untill 2001, before dropping slightly and then stabilizing. Meanwhile, the percentage of trains running on time fluctuated throughout the years and consistently failed to meet the punctuality target, with a noticeable decrease number after 2002.
Between 1995 and 2001, the number of passengers rose steadily from around 250 million and peaking at approximately 300 million in 2001. However, the figure fell sharply in 2002 to about 275 million and the became relatively stable until 2004.
As for punctuality, the percentage of trains running on time hovered around 90% from 1995 to 1999. After 1999, the percentage dipped slightly before recovering to nearly 95% in 2002.
In summary, while the passenger numbers initially grew before levelling of, the punctuality performance showed a more volatile pattern and ended the period with a significant decline.
