The flowchart below represents how strawberry jam is produced and sold.
Overall, there are 13 steps in this human-made linear process. It starts with picking strawberries from the field and transferring them to shops and markets.
The process begins with placing berries in containers and then in a van. After this stage, the strawberries are cleaned and checked for mold and bruising. Subsequently, the berries are cut in halves or quarters, and then they are transferred to a saucepan with sugar, where they are stirred and mashed. Following it, the strawberries are placed in the refrigerator for several hours.
In the final stages, the strawberries are placed on low heat and stirred, and when the mixture becomes thick, it needs to be cooled for 5 minutes. If the mixture starts bubbling, then it is recommended to add heat for 20 to 40 minutes. After this stage, the berries are transferred to hot sterilized jars and placed in the refrigerator overnight. Then they are labeled and sealed, and finally, they are delivered to shops and supermarkets.
