The development of Dubai has been illustrated by two maps, both showing the Clock Tower Roundabout from the same perspective, over the past few decades.
Overall, the city has undergone drastic changes, particularly in terms of road congestion and loss of green spaces due to rising urbanization. The monument in the middle of the Clock Tower Roundabout, however, has remained unchanged while several pyramidal trees have been planted around it.
The first most noticeable change has been occurred on the roads and streets. While they were free of automobiles, today, the number of cars seems countless. This phenomenon has already led to traffic congestion in Dubai. The second significant change is the increased urbanisation of the city. More buildings have been constructed, some of which have replaced bushes along the street.
It is true that Dubai has been changed over time, however, despite all these changes, the Clock Tower Roundabout has been preserved. In the centre of roundabout, there is an azure clock monument that has endured without alteration, except that it is now surrounded by a small group of needle-like trees.
