The graph gives us information about New Zealand’s birth and death rates between 1901 and 2101.
When we look at the graph, we see that deaths started below births, but in the end, deaths are more than births.
In the beginning of the graph, deaths were around 10,000 and rose by the time between 2041 and 2061. After that, deaths stayed static until the end. On the other hand, the birth rate started in the 2000s and increased dramatically until 1961. In 1961, the birth rate reached its’ peak and was around 70000. Then the birth rate dropped and then leveled off between the 1961s and the 2001s.
By the time it reached 2041, death and birth rates had evened out, and after that event, birth rates continued to fall steadily. On the other hand, death rates reached their peak around the 1960s, but until the 1980s they remained unchanged. Between 2081 and 2101, death rates dropped to a little higher than 50,000 deaths.
