These line graphs illustrate the differences in status of trains in a company from October to November 2008. Overall, both the percentage of trains that were delayed and called off witnessed a significant fluctuation throughout the period; however, the proportion of trains running late seemed to rise at a faster pace than the trains cancelled.
In the first week of October, the percentage of trains that ran late stood at 20%, which increased slightly to 30% in the second week of October before experiencing a significant drop to 5% in the last week of October. Nevertheless, afterward, there was a surge of 50% in the proportion of trains running late in the first week of November. Then, this figure decreased slightly by 10% in week 3.
In contrast, the proportion of trains that were called off began with a lower average percentage of 1% in the first week of October. Then, it underwent a remarkable fluctuation in the next 2 weeks, reaching a peak of 7% in the second week of October and hitting a trough of 1% in the third one. The following weeks continued witnessing constant fluctuations in the percentage of cancelled trains from the lowest one to 4% by the third week of November
