These line graphs illustrate the differences in the status of trains in a company from October to November 2008. Overall, both the percentage of delayed and cancelled trains experienced significant fluctuations throughout the period. However, the proportion of trains running late increased at a faster rate compared to the percentage of cancelled trains.
In the first week of October, the percentage of delayed trains stood at 20%, which rose slightly to 30% in the second week before dropping sharply to 5% in the final week of October. Nevertheless, afterward, there was a dramatic increase to 50% in the proportion of trains running late in the first week of November. Then, this figure declined slightly to 40% in the third week.
In contrast, the proportion of cancelled trains began at just 1% in the first week of October. It then fluctuated significantly, reaching a peak at 7% in the second week before hitting a trough of 1% in the third week of October. Over the following weeks, the percentage of cancelled trains continued to fluctuate, varying between 1% (the lowest) and 4% by the third week of November.
