Examining the details, regarding the US, Western Europe, and Japan, although there were significant changes in the consumption of oil, the United States remained the largest contributor throughout the period. In 2009, starting at 10 million barrels per day, and remained relatively stable over the following 6 years before plummeting by approximately 6 million in 2030. Besides, Western Europe and Japan’s oil consumption is projected to fall steadily by one-half, from 4 to 2 million barrels in 2030.
In contrast, a dramatic rise in the consumption of oil is predicted for China, with a jump of around 2 million from 2009 to 2030. Similarly, in the Middle East, oil consumption in 2009 was 2 million barrels per day, which was the same as in China at that time. It’s estimated to rise by only 2.5 million barrels by 2030.
