The bar chart illustrates the changes in maximum population of Asian elephants in 9 different countries between 1997 and 2004. As can be seen, it is India that stands out as having large amount of population of Asian elephants in both years, but this country reduced its rate alongside other countries, except for Cambodia which had an upward trend and Laos going unaltered.
India’s figure in 1997 reached almost 1000 elephants that was the most rate of population in two years but it had a decline of nearly 2500. In 1977, Malysia and Thailand had over 3000 and 3500 elephants in turn. These numbers significantly decreased to below 1500 in 2004.
Vietnam, Sir Lanka, Myanmar and China experienced a slightly decline, which resulted in changing by approximately 500. Among these dropdowns, the Asian elephant’s population in Cambodia increased from above 1000 to blew 1500. Meanwhile, Laos maintained a value at about 1200.
