The bar chart illustrates the highest number of Asian Elephants in South East Asia between 1997- 2004.
Overall, among nine countries India has a maximum number of elephants while on the other hand china stood in last with a minimal number of elephants. There are few other countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, etc. with constant number of elephants throughout 1997-2004.
As given in bar chart, there is decline in number of elephants over the years from nearly 10,000 to 7,500 elephants between a span of seven years. Despite having decrease in numbers, India still stood first in the line with highest Asian elephants protected in the wildlife sanctuary and Myanmar stood second on the line with slightly decrease in number of Asian elephants from 5,000 to below 5,000 between 1997-2004.
The number of Asian elephants in some countries has dropped significantly while few countries have successfully managed to rise the number of Asian elephants such as Cambodia and China. On the other hand, in case of Laos and Vietnam the number of Asian elephants has been constant throughout the years.
