Overall, it is clear that the figures fluctuated during the period, India recorded the highest values, while china had the lowest, whereas the remaining categories showed moderate changes.
Focusing on India, the figures began at approximately 10000 per cent in 1997. They then fall steadily, reaching around 7900 per cent by 2004. In Myanmar the figure increased at about 5500 per cent by 1997, after a brief decrease over the period, ended at nearly 5200 indicating an overall increased trend.
Turning to Thailand and Sri Lanka, a different pattern can be seen. The values began at about 4000 and 3500 per cent respectively, after which they fell gradually. In China, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam, the figures had reached lowest numbers in 1997 and 2004, remaining lower compared to India and Myanmar.
