Band 6: The graph below shows the number of enquiries received by the Tourist Information Office in one city over six-month period in 2011 (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The line graph delineates the number of inquiries that were sent to the Tourist Information Office in a particular city by various means during 6 first months in 2011.

Overall , it can be clearly seen that there was a gradual decrease in the figure for questions received through letter/email , while those in person and by telephone saw opposite trends. In addition , it is also noticeable that the quantity of inquiries got in person experienced the most significant change among the other options .

Starting at just under 800 inquiries given to the Tourist Information Office via mail in January , this figure witnessed a steady decrease

during the rest of the given period and ended at the lowest rank with approximately 400 . Meanwhile , the upward trends were seen in the number of inquiries sent in person as well as by calling , which increased from about 400 to 800 questions and from 900 to 1000 questions in the half of the period .

Nevertheless , from March onwards , the quantity of inquiries given in person that soared exponentially and surpassed those by telephone at 1000 before reaching a peak of 1900 ; whereas the number of inquiries given by calling took the second place with exactly 1600 at the end of the period.
