The bar chart compares the percentage of international graduates from six UK universities in 2000 and 2015.
Overall, all six universities saw an increase in their proportion of international graduates over the fifteen-year period, with London experiencing the most dramatic rise.
In 2000, Oxford and Cambridge had the highest shares of international graduates, both at approximately 12-13%, while the remaining four universities – London, Cardiff, Bristol, and Bath – clustered between 5% and 7%.
By 2015, the picture had shifted considerably. London surged to around 25%, overtaking all other institutions to become the leader. Oxford and Cambridge also grew significantly, both reaching roughly 22%. Cardiff and Bath showed notable increases to approximately 15% and 13% respectively. Bristol, by contrast, recorded the smallest growth, rising modestly to about 8%.
A particularly striking feature is that London’s international graduate percentage more than tripled, whereas Bristol’s barely doubled – highlighting the uneven nature of growth across these institutions.
