The graph displays the number of males and females in tertiary education in England, Wales and Scotland in three time periods if they were full-time or part-time students.
Overall, the part-time education in male students fluctuated while in female students gradual increase was observed. On the other hand, full time education in male and female increased gradually throughout the period except for the massive decline in females’ tertiary education in 1970/71.
Firstly, in 1970/71 about 1000 males got part-time education and just over 800 men were taking tertiary education in 1980/81 which then expanded to around 1000 males in 1990/91. However, the number of men for full-time education were increased gradually from around 200 to just over 200 in 1970/71, 1980/81 and 1990/91, respectively.
Secondly, in 1970/71 below 800 females got part-time education which then slightly increased with just over 800 females got part-time education which then slightly increased merely to 800 females in 1980/81 prior to rising significantly with over 1000 females in 1990/91.
