The table illustrates the proportion of people in Vietnam who use it for different features, making calls, taking photos, texting messages, and recording video by their mobile phones, in three years, 2005, 2008, and 2010.
Overall, making calls becomes the most preferable purpose among people in all three years. It is also clear that people exhibited nearly similar percentages in taking photos, recording audio, and texting messages.
Making calls was the most popular reason for why people use their cell phones, as 100% of users made calls by their phones in both 2005 and 2010, however, this trend decreased slightly to 97% in 2010. In contrast, sending and receiving messages was ranked as a second rate among reasons of using mobile phones, starting at 82% of people in 2005 and selling significantly to 73% in 2008 and 68% in 2010.
By 2005, 65% of people used their phones to take photos, which then rose gradually to 70% in 2008, before reaching 77% in 2010. The last purpose was recording audio for which all phones were used. The percentage of people recording audio was 78% by 2005. This feature followed a decline to 75% in 2008, ending the period at a chart low of 63%.
