The bar chart shows the proportion of self – employed workers of the total workforce in five countries in 1998 and 2008.
Overall, Turkey and Greece had the highest number of self – employed worker, out of the other countries. It was also noticable that during a decade. there was the positively increase in fragmentation of self – employed workers in Russian republic, Slovakia and Czech republic, while Greece and Turkey witnessed a considerably decrease.
Looking at the details, the number of self – employed workers in Russian republic, Slovakia and Czech republic started 3%, 5% and 11% respectively in 1998. After 10 years, both Russian republic and Czech republic are slightly improve, with 5% in Russian republic and 14%in Czech. On the other hand, Slovakia had a clearly rise when self – emloyed workers went up twofold by 12%.
At the beginning of period, over half of workforces in Turkey is self – employed, 10% higher than Greece. However, the amount of self – employed workers in Turkey fell dramatically by 16% in the next 10 years. In Greece, that percentage declined to 35% in 2008. It was also noticable that despite the change, the levels remained constant, with Turkey leading, followed by Greece, while Czech republic, Slovakia and Russian republic are later.
