The given bar chart illustrates the sales of five types of items in four seasons at a departmental store in one country in the US in 2011.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that women’s clothes always had the biggest share of sales across all four seasons compared to the other four items. In addition, men’s clothes in summer and sports equipment in spring had the same share.
Beginning with the winter and spring seasons, the largest sales were of women’s clothes in both seasons, with 40,000 and 60,000 respectively. Additionally, sports equipment was the second highest seller in the spring, with just 40,000, whereas in the winter, men’s clothes and cosmetics were also just over 20,000. In terms of jewellery in the winter and the other three types of items in spring, sales were just under 20,000.
Turning to the summer and autumn seasons, the overall biggest sales were of women’s clothes in autumn, with just over 100,000 sales, while in the summer, sales were roughly 80,000. Sports equipment in the summer had almost 20,000 sales, which was also considered the lowest share in this season, whereas in the autumn, men’s clothes had sales just over that amount. However, in summer, men’s clothes reached 40,000, as did sports equipment in autumn. The other two types of items, cosmetics and jewelry, had almost the same sales figures, with a slight difference.
