Overall, the UK citizenship increased and reached the peak in 2002, whereas new citizens came from Asia dominated the graph in both 1996 and 2002,. In addition, the number of pupulation in 2002 was higher than in 1996.
As for UK citizenship, in 1962, there were about 30 thousands citizenships. This figure increased in 1970 before witnessed a slight drop and continued grew to roughly 60 thousands between the years 1980 ans 2000. This number falled to 40 thousands in around the year 1998 and rose considerably, topped the chart at 120 thousands citizenships in 2002.
Regarding the origins of new citizens in 1996 and 2002, Asia accounted for the highest number, at 19 thousands in 1996 and 50 thousands in 2002. Followed by Africa, Europe and Americas, in 1996, figures for these categories were the same, at 9 thousands, whreas in 2002, they were respective 39 thousands and 27 thousand. Lastly, Austrasia and the others made up for 5 thousands in 1996 and 4 thousands in 2002.
