The chart compares the number of tourists who traveled to Australia from three nations in 1995, 2000, and 2005.
In 1995, there were about 2 million people who visited Australia. This figure was divided among three countries; we could see that the UK and USA had 400,000 to 600,000 tourists who went to Australia. Japan had 1,400,000 people visit Australia, which was the largest category. Besides, when tourists chose their types of holidays, 9 billion people chose travel agencies, and other people chose backpacking to travel.
Over the next 10 years, the number of people choosing backpacking steadily increased to 4 billion. We could also see that in 2000 there were 15 billion people who chose travel agencies, but it strongly decreased by 2005. Nevertheless, an interesting phenomenon occurred in 2000. The number of tourists to Australia increased, especially from the UK and USA; both had 1,380,000 people visit. But the number of tourists from Japan decreased to 630,000.
