This chart demonstartes and provides information on the trends of the agricultural sector emplyment during the time period from 1985 through 2019 for Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Algeria.
All 4 African countries show fluctuations within their trends and no constant rise or fall in employment for the whole journey, although all 4 countries show the same pattern of having a rise then fall in their employment. Nigeria demonstrates the highest amount of employment overall, while algeria shows the lowest amount of employment from 1985 to 2019. Also, Kenya and South Africa reside in between Nigeria and Algeria throughout the entire period, excluding 1995, when Kenya’s employment rose higher than Nigeria’s then fell under Nigeria again after that.
Firstly, Nigeria shows the highest initial increase in employment from 30 to 45(an increase of 15) til the year 2000, then constantly decreases to reach 25 in 2019. Secondly, Kenya presents an increase of 12-14 until the year 1995 then constantly decreases to reach 24 in 2019. Also, South Africa’s trend indicates an increase of around 7 up until 1995, then falls to 16 in 2019. Finally, Algeria shows the shortest increase of 2 to then continues to fluctuate.
In conclusion, Kenya, South Africa and Algeria all fall in employment before or during the year 1995, except for Nigeria which is still increasing, unaffected by this period and showing the highest employment by the year 2019.
