The line graph illustrates the number of men and women smokers per 1000 people in Bhutan between the years 1960 and 2000.
Overall, the data shows that the amount of male smokers declined over the given time period, while that of women increased.
In 1960, there were 600 male smokers in Bhutan; however, the following years this figure gradually decreased, reaching around 500 in 1980. This down ward trend continued to the end of 2000, dropping below 300.
On the other hand, the number of females who smoke experienced a significant increase from its initial of less than 100 per 1000 women to slightly below 200 in 1970, and 1975 this figure soared to its peak of around 350. However, in 1980, the amount of female smokers started to decline steadily, and in 1985 it dropped to 200; then, in 2000 it was almost 100. Even though the trends of smoking for both genders were different at the beginning, after 1975, they showed a similar behaviour.
