The line graph compares the availability of jobs in four sectors in the US from 1960 to 2020.
Overall, throughout the period, numbers of job in all sectors showed a general upward trend, except for agriculture. In particularly, manufacturing had the highest figures, while healthcare recorded the lowest, highlighting clear differences among the categories.
In detail, manufacturing had the highest number of vacancies, with a whopping 15000 in 1960. The figure for manufacturing sector increased notably to 20000 in 1980, but then it decreased considerably to around 13000 by 2020. Agriculture ranked in third with just over 5000 jobs in 1960, however then there was a notable decline in this number to 3000 in 1980. Agricultural jobs remained stable until 2000, and then fell slightly to 2000.
By contrast, the vacancies of retail and healthcare went up over the period, with the former experiencing a greater change. While the figure for retail grew from 5000 to 15000 between 1960 and 2020, there was a dramatic rise from just 2000 to 15000 in the number of jobs in healthcare.
