The line graph provides information about the number of occupations in four sectors of the economy in the U.S. from 1960 to 2020.
Overall, there was more jobs in manufacturing sector compared to other sectors, it lost its dominance by the end of the period, when healthcare and retail sectors became the leading sectors. Of particular note is that the number of jobs in agriculture sector followed a downward trajectory throughout.
Focusing on retail and healthcare sectors, they both followed somewhat similar patterns. There were just over 5 million and 2 million jobs in retail and agricultural sectors. While the number of jobs in retail sector increased dramatically to 15 million in 2000, and this was followed by a slight increase to just over 15 million. The figure for healthcare rose sharply to just over 15 million.
As for other two methods, there was a downward trend over the period. Manufacturing started at a staggering 15 million, a figure that then rose considerably to 20 million. This figure then went down sharply to around 12 million. There was a notable drop in the number of jobs in agricultural from 5 million to about 2 million. The index for agriculture remained more or less unchanged.
