Overall, the sales of Nokia showed an upward trend, while the opposite was true for Motorola’s figures. By contrast, the share of Sony Ericsson remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations and consistently accounted for the smallest share.
Regarding the upward trend initially, Nokia experienced a considerable increase in its market share over the period. Starting at roughly 20% in 1994, the sales volume of Nokia dipped slightly to reach its initial level in 1997 before rising significantly. After hitting its peak in 2002, Nokia’s market share fell slightly but still remained the highest among the three brands by the end of the period.
In contrast, Motorola stood at 33% in 1994 as the market leader, but its share dropped steadily over the next decade, reaching just around 15% by 2004. Meanwhile, Sony Ericsson remained the smallest brand throughout the period, fluctuating slightly from 10% to 15% before returning close to its starting point.
