The line graph illustrates the consumption of 3 various types of fast food (Hamburger, Fish&Chips and Pizza) in Britain between 1970 to 1990.
Overall, while Hamburger and Fish&Chips showed a significant growth in consumption throughout the period, Pizza experienced a gradual decline. Initially, Pizza was the most popular in consumption, but by 1990, Fish&Chips had overtaken both competitors to become the leading food in terms of consumption rate.
In 1970, Pizza had the highest demand, with an average consumption of 300 grams, followed by Fish&Chips with just under 100 grams. Hamburger showed the lowest consumption at around 40 grams. Over the next few years, Pizza’s consumption fell gradually, dropping below Fish&Chips in 1985, but with a slight rise to just over 210 grams by 1990.
By contrast, Fish&Chips consumption increased moderately at about 98-150 grams between 1970 and 1980, then jumped sharply to reach 500 grams in 1990. If we look at Hamburger, the trend was similar. Starting with about 20 grams in 1970, it saw a gradual rise to just under 100 grams in 1980. Subsequently, the fugure climbed considerably, reaching 300 grams in 1990
