The line graph compares the number of people in Australia who used to speak in Chinese, Arabic,Italian and Greek as their first language.
Overall, while in the beginning of the period, the number of people who spoke in Greek, hold the highest position in the rate, however, during the period, this position was overtaken by the number of people who used to speak in Chinese as their first language. Those who spoke in Italian experienced with decline in numbers.
Turning to details, two of the figures (the number of people who spoke in Greek; the number of people who spoke in Chinese) changed their position during the period. Although, the number of people who spoke in Greek was the highest in the beginning of the period (230,000 in 1986), it had been overtaken by figures of Chinese owners in 1996, continuing the growth until the end of the period, reaching its peak at 350,000 people.
The similar pattern had been shown in terms of people who spoke in Italian and Arabic. The numbers of people who spoke in Italian hold the higher position than Arabic language owners (150,000 as opposed to 50,000) in 1986, the position had been overtaken by people who spoke in Arabic, between 2001 and 2006 (copying the final level of the figure for the people who spoke in Italian at its peak)
