As an overall, it can be seen that the rate of male and female had calculated in different intervals. The female population in prison experienced in a downward trend. Meanwhile, the male population saw steady and significant growth and surged to lead over the period surveyed.
At the beginning, the women had the greatest population, at around 3200 people in 1911, while the men generated about 20,000 people. In contrast, the ratio of females decreased sharply to 500 by the next four decades, remained the same at 1500 and the males had fluctuated noticably by 1971.
In comparison, the rate of male remained low errstic in 1911, but climbed dramatically in the final of survey, finishing just above 45,000 men. Finally, the women’s population declined overall to about 1500, becoming the most least from two.
